Mulch is spread evenly at the right depth so it actually does its job — retaining moisture and suppressing weeds. No dumping and leaving. If beds need preparing first, such as clearing old, compacted mulch or edging, we can quote that separately.

How much mulch do I need?
The calculator at the top of this page does the math for you, but here is how it works if you want to check it by hand.
Measure each bed in feet. For a rectangle, multiply length by width. For a round bed, measure straight across, halve it, multiply that number by itself and then by 3.14.
Add the beds together to get your total square footage. Split curved or odd-shaped beds into rectangles and circles.
Multiply by the depth in inches, then divide by 324. That gives you cubic yards — the unit bulk mulch is sold in.
Example
A 10 ft × 20 ft bed is 200 sq ft. At 3 inches deep: 200 × 3 ÷ 324 = 1.85 cubic yards, so you would order 2 yards. That is 50 cubic feet, or about 25 bags of 2 cu ft mulch.
How deep should mulch be?

Keep mulch a few inches away from tree trunks and plant stems — piling it up against them traps moisture and invites rot.
More is not better. Beyond about 4 inches, mulch can stop water and air reaching the roots.
Bags or bulk?
One cubic yard is 27 cubic feet — about 13½ bags of 2 cu ft mulch, or 9 bags of 3 cu ft. Bags are handy for small touch-ups, but for anything over a yard, bulk mulch is usually better value and far less plastic and hauling. Bulk delivered and installed is what we do.
